We respond to Scottish Government consultation on gender recognition
1st March 2018
SKO have made their response to the Scottish Government Consultation on the Review of the Gender Recognition Act 2004. We're delighted that this work is being done and support the proposals being made by the Scottish Government to adopt a self-declaration system for legal gender recognition. There are some issues for consultation that are likely to be more controversial, including allowing under 16s to have their acquired gender recognised and allowing individuals from outwith Scotland to make use of the provision. We have highlighted some options and challenges that we forsee and look forward to the next stages of the consultation, which closes later today. Meantime, if you want to discuss the issues that arise feel free to contact Rachael Kelsey or John West.
